Our Complete Review of Online Poker Site Americas Cardroom

Americas Cardroom is an online poker room that operates on the Winning Poker Network.  Founded in 2001, it is one of the oldest online rooms still spreading games today.  They offer a wide ranges of game formats at different limits so no matter what type of poker game you are looking for, you can be sure to find one on Americas Card Room.  They accept players from all around the world and in doing so are one of the most popular online poker rooms in 2020.

Ever since the Black Friday shutdown back in 2011, Americas Card Room has offered service to those unfortunate American players and remains the most popular site for US poker players.  For the average poker player in the US looking for an online poker game, Americas Cardroom is going to be one of the best choices.

Software

If you have previously played on Americas Cardroom you may be aware of some software bugs and issues.  Worry no more as they released a new updated software platform in 2019 which seems to be working out great so far.  The lobby is well designed and easy to navigate to your favorite games.  There is minimal promotion in the main lobby other than some small images at the bottom of the lobby.

The software also boasts some other great features such as:

  • Blitz Poker
  • Dynamic Avatars
  • Auto Top Off
  • Preferred Seating
  • Bet Sizing Buttons
  • Synchronized Tournament Breaks
  • Jackpot SNG’s
  • CAP Tables
  • 6 Max / Full Ring
Americas Cardroom Software Screenshots

Another great thing about Americas Cardroom software is that it’s compatible on all sorts of devices including Windows computers, Apple computers, iPads, iPhones, Android phones and tablets.  The one operating system where you may run into issues is Linux but if you use Linux you’re probably smart enough to figure something out.

Player Traffic

When the Black Friday shutdown happened in 2011, a lot of American poker players were left wondering where they can play next.  Luckily for them there was Americas Cardroom and they quickly become one of the largest online poker rooms serving US customers.  Compared to all the other US serving sites, Americas Cardroom is usually going to have the most traffic.  At peak hours you can expect to see upwards of a couple thousand players online.

NLH & PLO cash games run pretty regularly all the way up to midstakes with the higher stakes running at a decent frequency. The limit games are hit or miss with most of the games being played at the smaller stakes.

Games Spread

Americas Cardroom runs cash games, multi-table tournaments, sit & go tournaments, and jackpot sit & go tournaments.  Games run around the clock so you can be sure to always find a game of your liking.

Real Money Banking Options

There are numerous different banking options available to get your money on and off of Americas Card Room.  Here are some of the most popular methods:

Americas Cardroom Deposit Options for US Players

  • Bitcoin & CryptocurrencyAll players may deposit via Bitcoin or using one of the other 6o cryptocurrencies allowed to make a deposit with.  The minimum deposit is $10.00 and the maximum deposit is $25,000.  Using cryptocurrency is anonymous and the method we recommend using the most.
  • Credit/Debit Cards – Another option for players is to deposit via their credit or debit cards.  As of the time of writing, they accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, and Discover Card.  Their is one caveat to using a credit or debit card to deposit and that is the transaction may not be approved by your bank / card issuer.  The minimum deposit using a credit/debit card is $48.00 and the maximum deposit amount is $2,000 for Visa, MasterCard, and American Express with Discover Card having a $1,000 max deposit limit.
  • Money Transfer – Players also have the option to deposit via a money transfer service like Western Union or Money Gram.  The minimum deposit for money transfers are $50.00 with the maximum deposit being $500.  There are also fee’s to use money transfer services and because of this we only recommend using it if all other options are unavailable.
  • Player to Player Transfer – The last way to get money on to the site is to have another player transfer you funds from their player account to your player account.  You may have a friend that plays online and you could give him cash in exchange for player funds or you could even visit one of the online marketplaces like the one on 2+2 and find someone looking to sell some player funds.  If you go this route you should always be careful to make sure the person you are trading with has an excellent reputation and is someone you feel safe dealing with.

Americas Cardroom Withdraw Options for US Players

  • Bitcoin & Cryptocurrency – The quickest and most efficient way to withdraw your winnings from Americas Card Room is to use Bitcoin or another cryptocurrency.  The minimum withdraw amount is $50 and the maximum amount is $25,000.  The turn around time for Bitcoin/Crypto withdrawals is usually within 48 hours but not guaranteed and I have personally had them take 4 days.
  • Money Transfer – Player also have the option to receive a withdraw via a money transfer.  Their is a $100 minimum withdraw amount and a $350 maximum withdraw amount.  Fee’s are also very high on this method and because of that, we don’t recommend using it unless you have no other choice.
  • Check In Mail – Some players may have the option to receive a check in the mail for their withdrawal.  There is a $100 minimum and $3,000 maximum withdraw limit.  Players may request 1 check per week, and the first check every 30 days is free.  Additional checks in the 30 day period will cost $65.  This is another method that we don’t recommend unless you have no other options.  You may run into issues with your bank cashing the  check, they may place an extended hold on it, and in some rare cases bank accounts have even been closed for cashing a check from online gambling.
  • Player to Player Transfer – If you need to get your winnings quickly, one option would be to sell some of your player funds to another player.  This may be a friend or someone from an online market place like 2+2.  You can usually find someone looking to buy and they can send you money via a service like Zelle and then you can send them the money from your player account. As always when making trades, make sure you do your due diligence on the person and feel comfortable making the trade.  Once you send the money from your player account, you will have a hard time getting it back if anything happens.

Withdraws are processed Monday – Friday, 7am – 7pm central time.

Rewards & Promotions

One thing is for sure, Americas Cardroom has one of the best reward programs for players and also has great promotions.  For the reward program, players have the option to choose between the Elite Benefits, which is a VIP point reward program, or they may choose 27% rakeback.  More information about each program is below.

Elite Benefits

Their VIP point program is what they call “Elite Benefits” and it is usually the default reward program players are entered into when they sign up .   There are different rankings based on the amount of points you have earned and there are numerous different benefits available based on your ranking.  The main benefit is that you are able to trade your points in for cash or tournament tickets and as you go up in rankings, you get better multipliers on your points.

Rakeback

Rakeback is where you get a percentage back of the total rake you have paid.  Americas Cardroom offers 27% rakeback so if you paid $100 in rake, you would get $27 back.  The rakeback is available to claim every 24 hours.  In order to claim rakeback you may have to contact Americas Cardroom and ask them to enable it on your account.  You may also simply signup and enter the code tbpsRB at signup and you will automatically be enrolled in the rakeback program.

Elite vs Rakeback

If you are a little confused and unsure of which rewards program is the most beneficial for you don’t worry, we got your back.  We carefully calculated all the different rewards at the different levels and have come to this conclusion: unless you are a serious player that is putting in lots of hours and hands at the table, the 27% rakeback will be the most beneficial for you.  In order to make more money with the Elite Benefits you have to reach the level of General which requires you to clear 100,000 Rank Points which equals $18, 181 in rake paid.  For most players this will simply be unobtainable and therefore they should just opt for the 27% rakeback.

Sit & Crush

Americas Cardroom is home of a weekly progressive Sit & Go points race.  It runs each week from Saturday, 12:00am until the following Friday at 11:59pm EST.  You get points for every entry you have into Sit & Go’s, Jackpot Sit & Go’s, and On Demand tournaments.  Players can win cash prizes of up to $1,250 per week as well as tournament seats.  For more information about Americas Cardroom Sit & Crush click here.

The Beast

The Beast is Americas Cardroom weekly progressive cash game race.  It takes place each week between Saturday, 12:00am until the following Friday at 11:59pm EST.  Every cash game table competes for The Beast and there is no extra fee’s because the prize money is taken from the rake.  Players will have the opportunity to take home a cash prize up to $2,500 and tournament seats.  If you would like to find out more about The Beast please click here.

Mobile

For those players that are looking to play some poker on the go via their mobile phone, Americas Cardroom has you covered.  You can login to your account via your web browser on your phone and play poker right on your phone.  While you don’t have the full game selection as you do on the desktop client, you can still play Blitz cash games and Jack Pot SNG’s.  It is available on most modern smart phones including both iPhones and Android devices.  To play you simply need an internet connection, login to your account, and select what game you wish to play.  If you don’t have an existing account you can click here so signup and begin playing on your phone.  Sign up bonus and rewards are still applied to your new account via that link.

Safety & Security

If you are an American player in an unregulated state, nothing is guaranteed when it comes to online poker and you should never have life changing money on a site.  That being said Americas Cardroom has been around since 2001 and while they have had some issues along the way, they have ALWAYS paid out their customers.  For us, this is one of the most important things  to consider when choosing an online poker site.  There is no point in playing on a site if you are unable to collect your winnings.  Going back, Americas Cardroom has always paid and usually very quickly.  They make the claim that all player balances are kept separate from operating expenses but unfortunately there is no way to substantiate this claim.

Americas Cardroom says it uses military grade encryption on all it’s software and cashier systems which could be why the site has never faced a major security breach.  They have an on staff security team which is constantly reviewing hands and user behavior to detect any malicious activity.  If they detect any bot accounts they will ban them and redistribute the players funds to other accounts that played with the bot.

Their RNG is certified by iTech Labs who is an ISO/IEC 17025 certified testing laboratory for online gaming systems.  More information about the RNG and iTech Labs can be found by viewing the short video below.

Customer Support

Americas Cardroom customer support could do better but overall is pretty solid.  There are numerous way to get in touch with them including email, phone, and live chat.  Email messages are usually replied to within 24 hours.  Phone support is available 24/7 but you may find yourself on hold occasionally if they are busy or you call during their off hours.  Live chat is usually available 7am – 7pm and can be accessed from inside the poker client.  Overall support can be hit or miss, sometimes they will quickly solve your issue and at other times they can be pretty unhelpful.  Overall though they do a good job and I have never had an important issue remain unresolved.

Conclusion

All in all, Americas Cardroom is one of the best choices for US players looking to play online poker.  They have a solid sign up bonus, excellent rewards program, good traffic and game selection, and most importantly they always pay out and do so in a timely manor.  From tournaments to cash games and jack pot sit n gos, Americas Cardroom is sure to have a game at most stakes for most players.  If you are a multi-tabling, HUD using, 6 max cash game grinder Americas Cardroom is for you.  Sign up here and get a 200% match bonus up to $1000 when using cryptocurrency to make your deposit.
